Information you provide directly:
- When you register as a SlaveryMap Investigator: your name, email address, country, and organization (if provided)
- When you submit a case: the case details you enter, including city, country, trafficking type, summary, and source URLs
- When you request data access: your name, email, organization, role, and intended use
- When you opt in to Not For Sale email updates: your email address
Information collected automatically:
- We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It provides aggregate statistics about page views, referral sources, and geographic regions only.
- Your browser may transmit standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and device type when you visit the site. We do not store or process this data for tracking purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To manage your SlaveryMap Investigator account and enable you to submit cases
- To review and verify submitted cases
- To respond to data access requests
- To send Not For Sale email updates if you opted in
- To improve the functionality and usability of SlaveryMap
How We Share Your Information
Not For Sale does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information under the following limited conditions:
- With trusted service providers: We use Supabase for data storage and Netlify for hosting. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- When required by law: We may disclose information if required by a court order, subpoena, or applicable law.
- To protect rights and safety: We may share information if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Not For Sale, our users, or the public.
Data About Trafficking Cases
Case data displayed on SlaveryMap is sourced from publicly available news reports, court records, NGO investigations, and community submissions. No personally identifiable information about trafficking victims is collected, stored, or displayed. Case summaries are derived from published sources and linked to their original reporting.
Your Communication Preferences
You can update your communication preferences or opt out of Not For Sale emails at any time by contacting us at team@wearenotforsale.org or using the unsubscribe link in any email you receive.
Cookies
SlaveryMap uses localStorage (a browser-based storage mechanism) to remember your Investigator registration status and whether you have seen the introductory guide. We do not use tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics, our analytics provider, is cookie-free.
Third-Party Links
SlaveryMap may contain links to third-party websites, including news sources cited in case records. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites and encourage you to review their policies before sharing personal data.
Children's Privacy
SlaveryMap does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.
